HOW TO ARRANGE A TEAM BRAAI AT THE OFFICE
We all have that time when we want to have a braai at the office once in a while, however, arranging one does not have to give you a headache, and instead, it should be a whole exciting arrangement.

A barbecue, the Afrikaans word for grill.
Many people still have braais as part of their celebrations or get together, depending on what the occasion is. Mainly a braai consists of:
- Sausage (boere wors – means farm sausage made from beef)
- Spit braai (lamb or chicken)
All these make a perfect braai at the office, yum!
LET US BEGIN
You cannot just organize a braai without knowing the number of people or staff expected to come. It is advisable to confirm their numbers to avoid braaing and having to spend on things that are not going to be eaten.
Decide on which venue you are going to use for the braai. The time of day for the braai is very important, so that the catering company that you have chosen knows exactly when to start with the preparations. Many people require a large place/ venue. The small backyard at the back of your office may only accommodate a small portion of people. You may need to think of a bigger spot.
TAKING THE 2ND STEP…CLOSER TO BRAAING
I find it awkward to hold braais in the morning as braais normally take place in the afternoon or in early evening, however, a braai taking place in the early evening in summer will be good compared to the one taking place in winter.
The specific timing of the braai openly depends on the weather and time the visitors/ guests are expected to show up.
Have you made a list of all the equipment you need for the braai? If not, make a list of all the things you will need for the braai, from lighters to forks.
You can have someone with a checklist to assist you. This will help you ensure that every little thing you need for the braai is in place. Know which side dishes you want to serve with your braai, salads, traditional pap and bread are the perfect side dishes for a braai.
No matter what your occasion is, you will definitely require fire to make everything tasty; you need to setup your fire.
Note: wood fire is not right during windy weather conditions. You may need to call the firefighters and no one wants that to happen.
Gas: this type of fire is the easiest for a braai. You can control it with ease; hence it is great for indoor braaing
Charcoal: are you having a fast braai? This method is good for fast office braaing and it lights up too quickly.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you make your fire away from where the guests will be sitting.
Braaing is an easy thing to do yet it is very important to guarantee a great taste. I always marinade braaing meat overnight as that ensures that the meat is filled with rich marinade flavours.
Let the meat sit at a room temperature for close to half an hour as this allows the fibres to warm up and relax, giving it a pleasanter taste and makes it to cook faster. Decide on which type of meat you wish to begin with; slowly place your meat on the braaing stand. Ensure that there are no flames present on the fire. Flames give meat a terrible taste.
Keep on turning the meat until it reaches its golden stage as that is when you know that you have nailed it.
Now that you are done braaing the meat, you can have it served with side dishes, a few of them can be done on the fire:
Traditional pap – Pap prepared the South African way is great for braais, a lot of people prefer it hot or cold.
Bread – you can have a selection of breads in this case, garlic bread prepared during the braai is also an option. White bread with butter provides a great taste.
Salads – good choice for vegetarians, green salad always works fine as well. Have it as a side dish.
Potatoes (baby potatoes) – this is great for spit braais, however it is also a good method to serve it alongside with any type of meat.
